Let’s talk about our cups.
Yes, we’re all just one massive cup.
I know, you weren’t expecting this to jump right into self-help since this has been just bad news shoved down your throat since the first post, but hey, here we are!
First of all, I feel like my cup is more along the lines of maybe a sippy cup.
Like it’s so small and awkward to hold and is constantly being knocked over.
But it always gets refilled.
Constantly.
Like four times a day.
Because that’s just how life works.
And to be honest, the quickest way to fill my cup is just being home with my partner and kids.
We are constantly preached on taking care of ourselves and doing self-care days and alone time to do the things that refill our cup.
But what if you don’t know what fills your cup?
Because, let’s be honest, I fill my cup with whatever is in front of me.
Like I’ll get super into reading. Or a show. Or journaling. Or baking bread.
And whatever I’m into, that’s just what I do until the next shiny butterfly comes along and I fly away to it.
But as long as that cup gets full, right?
Let’s talk about what empties it.
Stress. Bills. Kids. Spouses. Cleaning. Work. Getting in shape. Family.
Literally all of the things.
I find my cup being empty as soon as I refill it.
But that’s life, ya know? That’s just the cycle we live in.
You fill your cup just for it to be empty again.
“You can’t fill other peoples cups when yours is empty.”
Or however it goes.
I like that.
I like a good, full cup.
Hell, I’ll even take half full! Lately I’ve been very interested in filling my cup and finding the things that keep it full.
How do you fill your cup?
Is yours constantly empty and it doesn’t allow you to fill others?
How are you going to fill your cup today?
Maybe a day of self-care. Lunch with a friend. Date night with your partner. Movie with the kiddos.
Whatever it is, fill that damn cup!
And if it overfills, praise.
Use it to fill others.
